The Reward

Do you ever get tired?  I know that seems like a silly question because, naturally, we all get tired.  But summer is one of those times when I am less motivated.  And lately I have not been motivated at all!  Even the things I normally love to do hold no appeal.  My stitching sits in the basket, books are half-read, and dinner is there a bit longer than usual, waiting to be prepared.

I was reading a Scripture this week that spoke to my heart.  I felt like it was a message from the Lord given to directly to me.  It says:

This is what the LORD says:

“Refrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded,” declares the LORD.        (~Jeremiah 31: 16)

The work of our hands is not meaningless.  It is a gift we give to the Lord and he promises that it will be rewarded.  When our chores, and even our hobbies, seem worthless, we must redirect our attention to Jesus.  Even the simplest things he gives us to do are not ignored by him.  His eyes see all that we do and he appreciates our efforts.  Sometimes we all need time-off from our toils, but when we lack motivation, we should ask the Lord to give us some.  He is a wonderful giver.  And he’s a generous rewarder!
